CLIMB THE TOWER

In the Introduction to Game Engines course in the 4th semester, I learned how to use Unity and Unreal Engine to develop games.

For my assignment in this course, I decided to create a 3D platformer in Unreal Engine. In this game, you have a bow & arrow and climb a tall tower while shooting optional hidden targets.

Working on the tower and its many obstacles was very exciting and labor intensive as it was my first time creating a game in a game engine. I am very happy with the result.

I've worked on this project for about 3.5 weeks in total.

I started to familiarize myself with Unreal Engine and develop basic gameplay functions. The programming of the functions, especially the shooting of arrows and breaking of fragile platforms that you have to overcome quickly meant a lot of bug fixing during development. For programming, I used Unreal Engine's Blueprint segments.

Then came the most fun part: the level design. I built a large multicolored tower with checkpoints between the tower levels within several days.

I also did a lot of gameplay testing and added sounds & music from copyright-free sources.

The result can be seen on YouTube:
